An important step in every hotel SEO strategy is to claim, verify and optimise your Google My Business (GMB) listing. Did you know that over 70% of our total bookings through our client sites in 2017 originated from a Google platform?
Having a Google My Business listing will increase your chances of showing up in Google’s Local Pack, Local Finder, Google Maps and organic rankings in general and it’s really easy to get started.
Firstly claim your business listing and ensure your contact details are up-to-date. Your address should match the exact address on your website. Also make sure to use your actual business name, don’t stuff it with extra keywords to improve your visibility.
Google My Business listings show images from your own uploaded files as well as those from customers. Consider refreshing them or adding higher resolution shots. Have a look at the reviews on your profile too and develop a strategy to respond to same. This shows potential guests you care about their experience at your property and will encourage loyalty from existing customers.
A lot of hotels create their GMB listing and then never look at it again but to really optimise your results you need to refresh the content regularly. Why not try some of the tools Google have added in recent months, such as Questions and Answers or Google Posts.
